Curricular Goals
 
When Schechter students have completed their education at SSDS, students will be able to:
  • Communicate effectively through a variety of media.
  • Read with fluency and full comprehension for information and for pleasure.
  • Recognize and solve mathematical problems and apply basic operations.
  • Understand the world around them and their responsibilities as good citizens.
  • Know and appreciate the living world, the universe, and scientific research.
  • Appreciate and contribute to the fine arts.
  • Show strength in their commonalities and their uniquenesses, maintaining a strong sense of self.
  • Enter any synagogue in the world and actively participate.
  • Value and participate in the study of Torah.
  • Understand the importance of good health, exercise, and good sportsmanship.
  • Take risks in, love and enjoy learning.
  • Be leaders within their community and work well with others.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Use technology as a tool applied to all aspects of modern life.
Curricular Areas
 
The learning continuum provided for SSDS students spirals according to children’s individual strengths and needs through carefully designed learning goals within an integrated curriculum.
