Health & Physical Education
 
SSDS shares a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility with the Jewish Community Center. Available to our students is a top-notch physical educator, a gymnasium, soccer field, swimming pool, outdoor basketball courts and a playground. The Physical Education curriculum includes pre-sports skill development such as teamwork, sportsmanship, safety, nutrition, exercise and the Presidential Physical Fitness Test. Students spend 45 minutes twice each week in physical education.
 
Overall student goals for the health and physical education program:
  • Developing and applying motor skills
  • Participating in a physically active lifestyle
  • Achieving and maintaining a health-enhancing level of physical fitness
  • Exhibiting responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings
  • Respecting differences among people in physical activity settings
  • Using physical activity for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction
  • Practicing healthy behaviors and reducing health risks
