Information Sciences
Solomon Schechter Day School’s Information Sciences (Library/Technology) curriculum prepares students to:
- Communicate using a variety of media and formats.
- Access and exchange information in a variety of ways.
- Know content and be able to locate additional information as needed.
- Compile, organize, analyze, and synthesize information.
- Draw conclusions and make generalizations based on information gathered.
- Become self-directed learners.
- Collaborate and cooperate in team efforts.
- Interact with others in ethical and appropriate ways.
Specifically, students learn how to access materials in the library (including use of the Dewey Decimal system, location of reference materials, etc.) and learn library and technology skills related to classroom curriculum goals such as letter writing, editing, formatting, outlining, writing bibliographies, and research and presentation skills.
