Kashrut Rules for Sack Lunches
A kosher hot lunch is available at Solomon Schechter daily for $3.00. Hot lunches are provided by Gourmet to Go catering through the B’nai Israel kitchen. In addition, students have the option to bring a sack lunch.
All sack lunches must be dairy or parve. Kosher meat hot lunches are available for purchase on Thursdays only. Because we do not mix meat and dairy meals, sack lunches on Thursday must be parve. Meat lunches may not be brought from home at any time.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: Lunches are dairy only, including parve
- Thursday: Hot lunch is meat, sack lunch is parve (no dairy)
Lunch tickets for hot lunch can be purchased through the office for $30 (10 lunches) or $60 (20 lunches). Parents will be notified when their child is running out of lunches on the ticket.
The hot lunch program is supported by parent volunteers. Parents are needed to serve lunch each day. If you are able to commit to one lunch a week or even one lunch a month, please contact the Solomon Schechter office at 232-2325.
